Bring your dancing shoes! We are dressing up for a dinner and dance celebrating STAAR's 5-year birthday and the amazing STAARs around us.

Speakers

We are pleased to announce the confirmation of two LGSOC experts well known to our community as speakers.  We will continue adding speaker information as we receive confirmation.

Dr. David Gershenson

Dr. David Gershenson has been an amazing collaborative partner with STAAR and currently sits on our Research Committee.  He will share with our community the latest in LGSOC and reeducate all of us on this unique disease.  Come prepared with questions!

Dr. Rachel Grisham

Dr. Rachel Grisham will discuss the clinical trials process as well as ongoing LGSOC trials and recent results. She is Section Head of Ovarian Cancer Treatment and Director of Gynecologic Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Westchester.

Location & Hotel Info

We have a room block at the DoubleTree with rooms at $169/night plus occupancy taxes. Breakfast is included in room rate.

PLEASE NOTE:  The room block will be held until January 14, 2025. 

Additionally, we have only blocked a specific number of rooms and after this number of rooms is reserved, the hotel will honor the $169/night if rooms are available.

All LGSOC patients, family, supporters, caregivers, friends, and medical professionals are invited!
Everyone attending the conference events must register, including caregivers.

Scholarship
We do not want cost to deter any  LGSOC patients/survivors from attending, so registration for the conference is free for the first 75 LGSOC patients/survivors who register.  We are working to obtain sponsors to cover portions of the travel and conference hotel costs for those in need of help to attend. 

We cannot guarantee sponsorship funds will be obtained, but please fill out our scholarship application so we can help if we can!

Online Conference
We are gathering a list of those that are unable to come in person. We are  considering incorporating an online component, or at least recording the conference sessions.  If that is you, please fill out the following form so we can contact you.
Media Resources
STAAR was founded in 2020 when three women facing low-grade serous ovarian cancer recognized the urgent need for dedicated funding and support—a need unmet by the larger charities.​ The foundation exists to fund research for better treatment options for low-grade serous carcinoma, a rare (about 5% of ovarian cancer cases) and extremely underfunded ovarian cancer.
