Join our team of volunteers

STAAR is run by volunteers who are the heart of our organization.

We have four general areas of work: fundraising, financial/operations, donor relations, and marketing and communications. Volunteers work on projects to lead us to our mission.

Fundraising

STAAR’s fundraising team sets the goals for all fundraisers, determines the need for supplies, keeps records of all donations, and seeks event sponsorships.

Financial/Operations

STAAR’s financial and operations volunteers create reports, analyze income distribution, collect and pay reimbursement and expense forms, enter items into accounting software, send receipts to donors, and help with IRS reporting.

Donor Relations

STAAR’s donor relations group writes thank-you notes to sponsors and donors and sends out newsletters about the results of fundraisers, research awards, and advancements in research.

Marketing + Communications

STAAR’s marketing & communications volunteers create and schedule social media posts, as well as a branding kit, advertising, literature, and brochures, prepares paperwork and marketing plans for fundraising projects, and respond to social media comments and direct messages.
